About Inclusive Initiative

Our Mission

Our mission is for everyone with neurodivergence, including autism, to feel accepted and welcomed in their community and beyond. Our work launched and is ongoing in The Town of Bedford, and we intend to grow and expand from there.

Join us in our work to eliminate barriers and challenge stigmas. Help us ensure that our friends and neighbors with behaviors that may not be considered the norm are integrated and included in our community life.

We are all a little bit different.

Where it all started...

With Wendy Belzberg and Town of Bedford Supervisor Ellen Calves at the helm, a Neurodiversity Task Force was formed within Bedford, with local stakeholders involved and serving quickly formed committees. The interest and work were launched quickly, especially because so many participants had a personal stake in the outcomes of this task force. The Katonah Chamber of Commerce, which has members from all over the Town of Bedford (Bedford, Katonah, Bedford Hills), quickly joined forces with the task force to solidify the first training run by Anderson Center Consulting & Training. This would be the beginning of The Inclusive Initiative, the more formal mission-driven group to continue the work in Bedford and surrounding communities that the task force had already begun.
